PowerPoint 2004 freezes with [Command][Delete]

Processor: Power PC

I am running PowerPoint 2004 for Mac, v 11.5.1 under Mac OS X, v 10.5.4 (aka Leopard) on a PowerPC PowerBook G4.

When creating a presentation, if I type [Command][Delete], PowerPoint freezes with the spinning disk. The only recourse is to kill the process.

Here's the rub: the hang was happening repeatably until I went to post this note. ("Murphy's law in reverse" is in effect: "if something can go right at the wrong time, it will...") At this moment, I cannot reproduce the bug.

Has anyone else noticed this? Has anyone refined the conditions that make this repeatable? And (most importantly) has anyone identified a fix?

Many thanks.

Hi rp -

Repair Disk Permissions first to see if that resolves it. If not;

Two suggestions: get the 10.5.4 COMBO update from the Apple site & re-apply
it, then run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions followed by a cold
restart of your Mac. What you're reporting is a failure of the OS to handle
the service called for by the program.
