Powerpoint 2004 issues

1. We are getting some crashing when working with images. Usually on
import, but typically when using the sizing outline bars.

2. When we try to insert a picture, frequently the application bar and the
view flash and nothing happens. The application has to force-quit and try
the operation again, usually with some luck, sometimes rebooting is
required.

3. No replies to my previous post, so I will repost here:

2004: Insert Picture from File dialog - No preview

What's odd about this is that when using Finder, we can get a preview of the
image without clicking the More Info button, but when we use the Insert
Picture from File browser we don't see the preview on network drives.

On the local drive we see the preview fine.

We copied the images locally and we see them preview just fine, so it's not
the images.

We use Finder to browse the network directory and see the preview just fine,
so we don't think it's the network connection.

We can of course select the image by name and/or click More Info and
everything works fine. The thumbnail preview just isn't working on network
shares.

The network share is on a Windows 2003 server box, and the user has full
permissions. We're using MS Office for Mac 2004 and OS X 10.0.4

Hello Dvord,

Can you please supply a little more information? What model of Mac are you
running on? Is it Intel based? What's the exact OS version? (Go to the
Apple menu > About This Mac) What exact version of PowerPoint are you
running on? Go to PowerPoint > About PowerPoint and also do a Command-I on
the Microsoft Office file in your Microsoft Office 2004/Office folder. What
protocol are you using to connect to the server? Is it SMB, AFP or
something else?

Lastly, if you're running on a PowerPC based Mac, if you crash, can you
please post the crash log from Microsoft Error Reporting?

Thanks,
Andrew

Terribly sorry, completely forgot specs.

These are PowerMac G5's, in particular a dual core running OSX 10.4.4

PowerPoint version is 11.2.4 (060501)

We're using SMB to connect to the server.

Microsoft Error Reporting doesn't appear to come up after these crashes, so
I have no logs to post, unless they could be saved someplace without
notification; if I know the path I can retrieve them.

Thanks!
