PowerPoint 2007 cannot insert Windows Media Player as an Object

Unlike previous versions of PowerPoint there is no option of inserting
Windows Media Player as an Object. This is very restricting when playing
video in PowerPoint 2007.

I dont find the PlaysForCertain option adequate for my use.

Is there any way of incorporating the media player into a slide??
