Powerpoint 2007 Drawing Tools

In the old version of Powerpoint (97) there was a drawing tool in the
shape of a little pen. When you clicked on it and then clicked on a
picture the white background would become transparent. Then you could
use that image without it appearing in a big white colored box. For
the life of me I cannot find this tool in Powerpoint 2007 and I really
miss it. I'm having trouble believing that you can't do this somehow
in the new version (which is taking a long time to get used to). Any
help will be greatly appreciated.

Select the graphic. The ribbon should show Format with Picture Tools above it
on the right. In the extreme left you have 6 options above the title Adjust.
Choose the - sone labelled Recolor and at the bottom you will find the pen
tool - Set transparent color. Hope this helps.
