Powerpoint 2007 File Conversion

I recently created a presentation on my work computer in Powerpoint 2007 with the following extension - .pptx. I'm unable to open this file with my current version of Office for Mac v.11.5.1. I get a dialogue box telling me to download Office 2004 Update 11.5.0 so that I can use the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac.

When I download the installer and try to run it, I get an error message that states:

"The installer could not locate the correct version of the software required to install this update. See the Read Me file included with this installer to determine if your software meets the requirement for this update."

After reading this information, it appears that my software does indeed meet the requirement for the update.

Any advice on what to do so that I can successfully install this update and open files created in newer versions of Powerpoint will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If you already have the 11.5.1 update, then the 11.5.0 updater won't find
anything to update (since 11.5.1 is newer than 11.5.0). In addition to the
previously mentioned update, you will also need to download the Open XML
Converter from Mactopia <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/>. After that, there
should be no problem opening the new Office Open XML format from within the
various Office 2004 applications.
