PowerPoint 2007 Links

I am a new user to the forum, so please let me know if I need to send
additional detail or attachments to illustrate my comments.

My company is currently converting from XP to Vista. Our group has
been putting it off because we are running into linking problems from
Excel to PowerPoint.

We have many large 2003 PowerPoint files which are linked to cell
ranges in 2003 Excel. Monthly or sometimes more frequently the excel
data is updated to reflect current YTD balances. When this is done we
then update the links in PowerPoint for our presentation decks. This
works perfectly in 2003/XP.

When we converted the files to Vista/2007 we are finding that certain
links in PowerPoint, not all, that are based on cell ranges are
showing the format of the cell ranges instead of showing an object,
such as a chart, which is in the cell range. The only way to view the
chart is to open up excel through the link and then go back to
PowerPoint right click and then update link.

I have tested several files on our network and on my hard drive and I
have gotten the same results. I read through many postings and I
believe a couple of people have posted similar findings, but either no
response is yet posted or the conversation was taken offline through e-
mail (PowerPoint 2007 Links to Excel by tgialane, PowerPoint 2007
charts disappearing by Kokomojo, and most recently Problem with charts
in 2007 version by Elzbieta)

I would like to know if anyone else is facing this issue and how have
they either “fixed it” or worked around it.

Thanks!
