PowerPoint 2008 compatibility with PC

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I developed a poster using a PowerPoint slide. I used a table with 2 columns and inserted text, photos and graphs. Saved it as a .ppt 1997-2004 presentation. Sent it to my pc at work and half the text is missing. How can I see at work a presentation developed on my Powerbook Pro at home? Hours of work wasted and I don't want to go down this road again!

Can we assume that PowerPoint on your Mac is fully up to date? Use the
Help menu and choose Check for Updates to be sure.

Can we assume that PowerPoint on the PC is fully up to date? Go to
WindowsUpdate from the Start menu.

If both sides were not fully up to date, then start on the Mac. After
all updating is in place, open the presentation and use Save as and save
the presentation. Then zip that file, and bring it over to the PC. After
the PC has been fully updated, try opening the file.

If both sides were up to date when the presentation was saved, then, the
next thing to investigate is whether the PC is missing the font that you
used when you created the presentation on the Mac.

My PowerPoint is up to date. On my pc at work is 2003v Windows based. Working for local govt it could well not be the latest.
The only thing that finally worked was to save the slide (there was only one) as a pdf, zip it and send. Not sure that this would work if I had a presentation with a number of slides?

Jim, the font of the text that did not appear was the same as the text that did appear.

I find it truly ironic that often the same IT organizations that pretend
to watch out for security often fail to promptly install security
updates. The excuses they offer are often pathetically inventive as the
IT department puts their computers at risk.

Fonts can be tricky. There are lots of different versions of Arial
floating around, for example. An older version may not be Unicode. One
version might be from Apple. Another from Microsoft. Yet when you
formatted the font you chose Arial as if there was only one version
available on your computer - or theirs.

Try formatting the font to a different font. Use one that's compatible
with windows as shown on the formatting palette. In the Font section
click the Name pop-up. Then choose Font Collection > Windows Compatible
and choose one of the fonts you know to be on the PC.
