PowerPoint 2008 Eliminates Important Capabilities

PowerPoint 2008 has eliminated two capabilities that I consider essential to do my work, and that have always been standard features of earlier versions:
° Filling objects with patterns
° Editing irregular shapes (Edit Points)
I have some experience with product development, as the director of product development for a major company, and it is beyond me why anyone would want to degrade the usefulness of a product like Microsoft has done to PowerPoint.

You can probably use Picture Fills and choose images of patterened fills to accomplish
more or less the same thing. I've created a set of each available pattern fill in b/w
saved as a WMF graphic and zipped them up in a file you can download here:

No more Pattern Fills in PowerPoint 2007

Ignore the macro I also posted there ... that's another feature that went away in 2008,
unfortunately.

Hi Sunshine,

You can still edit irregular shapes. Simply choose "Edit Points" after
right-clicking or holding CTRL key and clicking from menu to do so. If you
don't have that option you need to first convert the shape to a "Freeform"
shape (also an option on that menu).

Let us know if this works for you or not.
