Powerpoint 2008 multiple template designs in 1 presentation

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

In Powerpoint 2004 when defining the final presentation you could insert multiple slide designs (based on templates) into 1 final presentation without losing the theme/design of the original template by simply marking the checkbox "keep slide design" in the advanced tab of the preference pane. This has vanished in 2008 version and I haven't found a workaround yet. Any suggestions?

Thank you jeff Chapman!

1. Set the view to "slide porter"
2. Drag and drop the slide thumbnail from the slide sorter pane of your target presentation
to the slide sorter pane of your destination presentation.
3. On the last page of the inserted slides, you should see a little clipboard-looking icon pop up
4. Click on this icon and select "Keep Source
Formatting".

This method will not only retain the background,
it should retain the entire slide master for that slide, meaning the fonts, the theme, the colors.

If you use the Insert> Slides From> Other Presentation method you'll find
the option in the dialog when you specify the option for "Select slides to
insert". That method is more efficient & preferable to copy/paste.
