Powerpoint 2008 print crash

Since we got office 2008 (back in 2008) we've consistently received print crash problems. We have three printers on our network HP 4200, HP 4250 and Xerox DocuColor 242. Even if I try to Print to PDF from the print dialogue box, the crash still occurs. I just don't get it. It can't be print driver specific. No other apps on my computer experience the same problem. It's a PowerPoint-based print function that seriously needs to be resolved. We've avoided rolling out Office 2008 specifically because of the print stability issue that my pilot test of people have continued to experience. Is there a fix in the nearby future?

By the way, Powerpoint 2004, Word 2008, Excel 2008, and Entourage 2008 have no such issues, therefore, it seriously brings me to the conclusion that PowerPoint 2008 is not performing proper print checks when prepping the file for a printer.

Hi,

Thank you for posting this report. We have been trying to reproduce this
issue for some time - would you mind giving me some more details about your
setup to see if we can reproduce?

-What version of Leopard are you running? (i.e., 10.5.x)
-How are you connecting to the printers on your network? IP? AppleTalk?
-Does the crash occur with any PowerPoint document, or only certain types of
files?

Thanks for the info,

-What version of Leopard are you running? (i.e., 10.5.x)
10.5.6

-How are you connecting to the printers on your network? IP? AppleTalk?
Appletalk is disabled on the printers. Our computers only connect to them via Bonjour
Also, this computer has the latest HP4200 drivers installed on it.

-Does the crash occur with any PowerPoint document, or only certain types of
files?
Standard .ppt documents. Not sure about .pptx since we haven't been printing from the newer doc format. (Our clients are still using Office 2003)

Here's a crash log When printing:

Appletalk is disabled on the printers. Our computers only connect to them via
Bonjour
Also, this computer has the latest HP4200 drivers installed on it.

Thanks for all the info you provided, this will help track it down. But
I've got a couple more questions :)

Are these "Bonjour Shared" printers? (i.e., connected to another Mac)
Standard .ppt documents. Not sure about .pptx since we haven't been printing
from the newer doc format. (Our clients are still using Office 2003)

If it is with any .ppt file, can you reproduce the crash from scratch with a
blank .ppt and maybe just some text? If you can't, that tells me there is
something on the particular document that may also be triggering the crash
(SmartArt, XL Chart, picture, etc.). Also, were the .ppts created on
WinOffice PCs or on Macs?

Thanks again for all the info, it really helps.
