PowerPoint and HTML links

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel We have a PP slide that is saved as a webpage that has links to other files converted from Word to webpages. The whole thing is strictly internal and all docs are housed on our internal server.

Here is the problem. All the links created in the slide are not working anymore. When you hover the mouse over the link, the mouse doesn't even change into a pointing finger. It is like the links just got rid of themselves. We have tried to redo the links, but they act like nothing was done. The interesting thing is when we set up a link using a graphic - we put a star shape in the slide, added the hyperlink and when saved as a webpage and launched into a browser. The graphic works as a hyperlink it seems to have an aversion to text even word art. The location of the slide and all the docs that it was linked to have not changed.
In an effort to figure out where to start we are now going to try setting up the slide in Office 2004. We are also going to try using Internet Explorer to see if the same problem occurs. I will add the results to this post when we get this done.

Wondering if anyone else has had this problem, if so - thoughts on fixes. Thanks!

We tried using Office 2004. We opened the PP slide, made changes and saved it as a webpage. Now, the links work. As soon as it was opened in 2008 and a change made and saved the links stopped working again. Seems we found a fix, but seems it's temporary as we wont stay Office 2004 users forever. Also, all updates to Office 2008 have been installed, so this problem isn't related to updates.
