powerpoint can't open file

W

webweaver6

After trying to open the file that someone sent me I get the following error
message - "PowerPoint can't open this file because no converter for this file
type is installed." This is a .ppt file sent thru outlook.

If the person who created the file sends it to himself, and then tries to
open it, the same error message occurs.

This is only when the file is sent thru outlook. If it is sent thru aol or
another web based email client, no error message appears.

Thanks for the help.

You might check in the Outlook newsgroup (I don't use Outlook). I know
that some email clients have options to automatically compress files.
Perhaps, the file is being automatically compressed by the sender. When
he receives the file his email client automatically decompresses it so he
sees it just fine.

Also, be sure that you have updated PowerPoint to include all service
packs (although this doesn't sound like the problem).
