Powerpoint chat configuration

I am attempting to set up power point online broadcasting
with chat enabled. Everything is working except the chat
feature. I have a chat server and I have set the chatURL
regestry key, however when a client clicks the 'online
chat' button the browser is redirected to the URL in the
chatURL key, getting a "page cannot be displayed' error.
My question(s):

Does the chat feature work inside a frame on the browser,
or does it activate the chat client on the viewers
computer?

Is there any client side configuration needed to enable
the chat feature?

My chat server has been tested and is working.
