PowerPoint Constantly Reinstalling Features

G

Geoff

I'm using Office 2003 on a Win2K SP3 system. This is in a
corporate environment - i.e. a domain.

I was preparing a PowerPoint presentation and using
charts. Everytime I work on a new chart on a new slide
PowerPoint gives me a Windows Installer and
says "Preparing to install..", which takes several minutes
to complete- then it works. I also have had problems with
Word. When I double-click on a document from explorer and
Word is not open I get a dialog saying it can't find the
document, but when I double-click again (while Word is
open) it will eventually show up.

This problem started when the IT organization moved me
over to a new user account because of a merger. I was
using a previous version of Office 2000 SR-1 and under the
new account every time I opened a document I'd get a
reinstall. I couldn't uninstall Office 2000 because of an
error, so I installed Office 2003 (from my MSDN
subscription) which gives you the option of upgrading,
which I did. It now doesn't reinstall everytime I launch,
but clearly something is still wrong. Anyone know what it
might be.
