Powerpoint crashes on printing

I have rolled out Office 2008 to a number of users on our site. I am beset with problems - the most serious of which seems to occur with people who are using OSX 10.5. With these people Powerpoint quits/crashes when they try to print. The same files appear to print fine when printed from a machine running 10.4.x and Powerpoint 2008 - the files also print fine if opened and printed on the OSX 10.5 machines but in Office 2004. So in sum there appears to be a major problem with Leopard and Office 2008 and until it is fixed I have no option but to remove Office 2008 and revert back to 2004. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, do you have a fix!!!

Have you considered the need to update the printer drivers? That's the
direction in which the symptoms seem to point.

Hi Photocat,

I have experienced the same problems you describe above.

I have several users running Mac OS 10.5.5 now with the latest office update
12.1.3.
When printing powerpoint files the document spools and then just crashes and
powerpoint quits. I had hoped the latest office update would have fixed this.
I have to save the files down to .ppt files and then print them through
powerpoint 2004.
Reinstalling the operating system and office from scratch has the same
results. Latest leopard printer drive for a Canon iRC3580 and NX800 print
server is installed. It does seem to be a Leopard and office 2008 issue.

Does anybody know a workaround or fix?

thanks

Hi,
I have the same problem on three computers. Same Configuration :
- Mac OS X.5 - Latest updates
- Office 2008 Latest updates
- EFI print driver (Canon copier)

Some documents can be printed, others can't, Powerpoint crashes evey time. I tried the lateste avalaible drivers for the printer but I get the same issue ... on 3 different computers ! My client is getting mad about the printer. Please give us a Fix !

I have two offices running near identical systems, one office has this
problems and the other doesn't. The only difference is the printer drivers.
Our London office prints to a Canon 2620 and doesn't have any crashing issues
and the NY office prints to a Canon C1 and they have very frequent crashing
problems. I am beginning to suspect the Canon PPD's. I"l search for a GIMP
version and post my results.
