powerpoint crashes with sound

When I add a suond to my powerpoint presentation then play it back the
program crashes every time. I have updated my computer and it didn'thelp. I
also have reinstalled Micrsoft office. I have windows xp and the 2007
ultimate office program

Hi

This is going to sound odd, but the first thing to try is to install the
test printer driver here:

If that doesn't work can you give us a little more detail - what sound file
type is it, where did you get it from, etc.

Thanks for your help. I installed the test printer, but that didn't work.
The sound file I am adding is a song (mp3) to be used as background for some
of the slides. I downloaded it from Itunes and converted it using noteburner.
I have used these files in other programs with no problem (including an
earlier version of powerpoint.)
With this one I insert it just fine, but when I preview the slide show
powerpoint crashes and has to close. the song is on the first slide, so it
happens right away.
I have tried sending the info to microsoft and all they say is to do an
update, which I have done.

If you have the capability convert the sound to a .wav file and import that.
PPT does have issues with some mp3 files according to some posts I have seen
on here.

AFAIK iTunes downloads have DRM so can't be used in PowerPoint - not that
I've heard of it crashing PowerPoint but...
