If I download a powerpoint design from the Microsoft web How do I save in the
Design template? Each time I download a design it opens a new powerpoint
presentation.

Choose File | Save As and change the "save as type" to Template (*.pot).

The downloads may actually save a POT file onto your harddrive somewhere,
but if it's there, it's certainly not easy to find, so this is what I
generally recommend.

I don't like the way it works either. Don't shoot the messenger.
