powerpoint.en-us\powerpointmui.msi error on install

I'm trying to install MS Office Standard (w/ Windows Vista) and the the setup
gets stalled with an error that reads: "Setup cannot find
powerpoint.en-us\powerpointmui.msi. Browse to a valid installation source,
and click ok"

I have selected everything possible and i keep getting "invalid location".

I have copied the disk to the desktop and tried installing from there, and
still the same thing.

I have looked all over and searched this forum and found nothing.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's rare that a Microsoft employee posts in here. Most of us are just end
users like you. If no one can help, then you may have to call Microsoft and
pay for tech support.

Probably cant take the software back either and just get another. I'll try
that before having to pay for support on a product that should work.

You can try to return it but I suspect they will not accept it. Have you
tried downloading a trial version of that specific edition and activating it
with your product key?

Installation fails, and you receive an error message when you try to install a
2007 Office suite or a 2007 Office program by double-clicking an .msi file:
"Error 1713" or "MSI Error 41"
