Powerpoint file in use error

Mark

My server crashed and 1/2 of my class had PowerPoint (2001
for Mac)open at the time. Now when they try to open their
file, it gives a "file in use or corrupt" message and
won't open the file. Is there a way to convince the files
that they aren't open so the students can access them
again?

I've looked at the files with ResEdit and they are
definitely marked as "In use" but I don't see a way to
toggle that to not in use!

Thanks,
Mark

It may be possible to force the files closed using a utility on the server.
Sometimes all it takes is restarting the computer that's allegedly holding the
files open.
