powerpoint file won't open if sent thru outlook

webweaver6

After trying to open the file that someone sent me I get the following error
message - "PowerPoint can't open this file because no converter for this file
type is installed." This is a .ppt file sent thru outlook.

If the person who created the file sends it to himself, and then tries to
open it, the same error message occurs.

This is only when the file is sent thru outlook. If it is sent thru aol or
another web based email client, no error message appears.

Thanks for the help.

I doubt Outlook would be messing with the attachment. It sounds like a file
type association problem or incompatibility.
Try having it sent in a zip file.

What if you save the attachment to your desktop, right click on it, select
open with, and choose powerpoint?

Tried saving the file to the desktop and opening it - that won't work either.

If the problem is not Outlook, why does the file open correctly when sent
thru aol or a webmail account? This problem of not being able to open the
powerpoint file only happens when it is emailed thru outlook.
