PowerPoint file won't open

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I created and have been editing a PowerPoint file in Office 2008 for the past week. I edited it successfully as recently as last night. I tried to open the file today, and got an error message that said "PowerPoint cannot read (file name)." Anyone else have this issue? I don't know what to do, or how else to open this file.
