PowerPoint files

I keep getting a message "PowerPoint can't open file
C:\\" it just gives the path from there. This is the case
with all files. Even if I try to make a new file and save
it...I get the same message when I try to open the file.

Any suggestions?

Jim

This is a new install of Xp Office Pro 2002. I have all
service packs and office updates. I am stumped.

Nope, the system is well aware that it is an PowerPoint
file. I get this error even using the open from inside
PowerPoint, not just when double clicking files.

I get this error message from inside PowerPoint. You see
at first I thought this error was due to PowerPoint
having a problem with files made with the 2000 version.
Then, I realized I could make a new presentation save it
and still not be able to open it.

Thanks

Jim

If it's just returning the path, it may still be related to Ron's suggestion
(look at the quote marks very carefully compared against the same setting on
your system.

And try saving a file with no spaces, no odd characters, basic 8.3 filename,
and save to a folder with no spaces, no punctuation on your C: drive.

C:\Test\Myfile.ppt for example.
