Powerpoint freezes on Imac but keynote works

I receive Powerpoint presentations on mu Intel Imac by email through
Yahoo. When I try to open the presentation with Powerpoint 2004, the
program freezes after displaying only part of the first screen.

I can open the presentations without problems with Keynote (I can use it
only for a month), so it is definitely a Powerpoint problem.

Both Office 2004 and the Mac are updated up to date. Any ideas?

When you open the presentation in Keynote, can you re-save it in PowerPoint
format? (I don't use Keynote so I can't test this out myself.) If you can,
try that and then open the new file in PowerPoint.

Also, are the corrupt files from the same user? Perhaps the files are being
corrupted at the source. What if you receive then via a different e-mail
account?

Are there any PowerPoint files that you can successfully open?

These steps should help narrow down the cause of the problem, a bad Office
installation or files that are being corrupted at the source or en route.

These are the thoughts that come to mind.

I also have frequent problems opening Powerpoint presentations send by
e-mail. In order to avoid the hassle of having to force quit
Powerpoint, I normally change the ending of the file from .pps to .ppt
This as worked for me 100% of the times. I hope that this problem will
be fixed with the new Office Universal to be released...(when?????)
