I'm Running PowerPoint 2004 on a Mac Book Pro. All of the sudden it
stopped playing sounds. Any ideas???

Thanks!

Carlos.

It's me again... besides stopping playing sounds (wav, aif, and so on),
Powerpoint is not playing sounds on mpg movies... it plays the movie
(image is ok) but with no sound. However, it plays .mov movies
perfectly (BOTH SOUND AND IMAGE).

It was working perectly, until it "decided" not to!

Any advice?

Thanks

Carlos.

Can you play sounds in other applications? Did some of these same sounds
play before the problem?

Odds are you used Windows Media Player (WMV, WMA) for sound.

You need to download the latest Media Player for Mac to play the files.

Unfortunately MS in its infinite wisdom has decided to discontinue Media
Play for mac. The latest version may or may not work.

Goggle for Flip4Mac. The company has created a plug in that will work
with Quicktime to run MediaPlayer files except those that have Digital
Rights management. They are working on that.

If it's "fixed", don't "break it"!

Hello Carlos,

Can you please answer David's questions? If the answer is yes to the first
question, can you please give us some exact repro steps and indicate which
exact model of MacBook Pro you have? Go to Apple Menu > About This Mac... >
More Info and indicate the machine model (example: MacBookPro1,1). Also, it
would help to know the exact version of PowerPoint you have (go to
PowerPoint menu > About PowerPoint).

Also, can you tell me what happens if you do this?
1. Start PowerPoint
2. Insert > Movies and Sounds > Sound From File...
3. Select a file from the Microsoft Office 2004/Office/Sounds folder [let
me know which you chose from there]
4. Insert
5. Answer No at the prompt
6. Double click on the sound in the presentation
7. Start Slide Show
8. Repeat step 8

The above will help us in trying to narrow down the issue. If the file
doesn't play, what if you use QuickTime Player to play it?

Andrew
