Powerpoint is deleting spaces between wordsand messing up graphics

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

When opening presentations done with PowerPoint 2007 (Windows version) I'm facing two problems;

1) Some words get together, the space between them are just deleted. I've observed that it happens when the words are in a different language from the default one

2) Some graphics, imported from Excel looks perfect in PowerPoint 2007. I save the presentation but it get messed up when I open the same file using PowerPoint 2008.

It's really demanding a lot of work to check, and re-do my presentations, how can I solve those problems?

Take a look at this thread, I don't think Microsoft has solved this
issue...
