PowerPoint LIVE, and a blog question

Hi all!

Just a friendly note to all of you gathering in Tucson this weekend
for PowerPoint Live (http://www.pptlive.com/). Couldn't make it for
the inaugural event, but it sounds like those of you going are in for
a fun and informative time. Have a blast and let us know here how it
all turns out.

If I *were* going, my question would be this: Am I, like, the only
person on the internet to be blogging about PowerPoint? I find this
rather hard to believe. Please prove me wrong, as I'd love to learn
what others are doing, blogwise. I look and find nothing. Am I onto
something or just demonstrating bad search techniques?

Just as much, if I were going, it would be to give personal thanks to
everyone who makes this PPT community work. The recent thread on MVPs
echoes my feelings, no pun intended. Well, OK, it was. <G>

Have fun, y'all!

Is it just me? But I don't really get this blog thing.

I'm sure there are some excellent blogs about...but if you spend time
reading them, you tend to get no work done!

A search on google for
powerpoint blog
245,000 results

powerpoint blogger
257,000 results

One of the things I've noticed/experienced is that people creating good
presentations tend to keep quiet as to how they did it. Ever noticed that
you can down load all sorts of great examples for other Office products but
not so with PPT? There are a few but they are very few. I suppose it has
to do with people not wanting their presentations to look like the next
guys/gals so when they find away to do something different they keep it to
themselves.

By the way, I don't get the blogging thing at all. Never read one and
surely never written one. Different strokes for different folks I
suppose...

You are not alone TAJ. I have a friend who is really into blogs and
writes/reads many of them every day. It all sounds like people espousing
their opinions to me and I get enough of that without searching for it. I
enjoy photo logs more. Not to mention I just don't have time to read a
hundred pages of people's opinions every day. Gotta work instead.

TAJ/Austin/JohnO:

I also seem to miss the point of many *personal* blogs out there. I
think many of the early and famous ones were just glorified diaries
with little cohesiveness or direction. Today, there are blogs about
blogs and the blogging bloggers who blog them. Yikes.

But blogs, like the web in general, are evolving. A reasonable
business justification can be made for the *business* weblog. See for
instance:

http://sbinformation.about.com/cs/ecommerce/a/bblogs.htm
http://webdesign.about.com/cs/weblogs/a/aa061603a.htm
http://www.bloggingworks.com/

Evolution-wise, I'm still crawling around the muck. But I've had some
fun with my blog, it has not harmed my business as far as I can tell,
and my hits have increased every month it's been up. Guess I'll keep
going ...
