Powerpoint not interfacing with projector

Brad

I'm having a problem whenever I hook up my computer to any projector,
Powerpoint presentations stop working correctly. Slides won't advance, music
won't play, or the arrow will vanish to never return. It also changes the
resolution of my laptop until I restart it. It's a Dell Inspiron 8600 if that
helps. Anybody encountered this?

I am having a similar problem with powerpoint 2003. Acts like I am pressing
the "home" key on my keyboard continuously. Only when connected to
projector, not when not connected. I have a Dell Latitude D620. Let me know
if you hear any (e-mail address removed)

The only way the projector will recognize the laptop at all is if I hook it
uo to the projector, turn on the projector and then start the computer.

I'm not sure what pressing the Home key continuously would look like. Does
this mean the projected image is flashing?

Steve's just saying that the laptop recognizes the projector, the projector
doesn't recognize the laptop.

Anyway, make sure the projector and the laptop monitor are both set to the
same resolution. Usually 1024 x 768 is pretty common, but it will depend on
the projector.

I believe you'll want to change these settings (or at least see what they
are) on the projector itself (not in properties on the computer). Once you
know what the projector resolution is, you can specify the same thing for
your computer (in Properties on the computer).

This could be why the computer is changing to that resolution when it
recognizes the projector as you described elsethread.

I can't change the resolution on the projector, it's hanging from the ceiling
fifteen feet up.

No, I meant projector on first. Yes, I see two monitors in Properties.

What Steve said. Although I'd think there'd be a projector remote of some
sort -- I mean, how do you turn the thing on and off?
