Powerpoint on Mac, file size issues, not a repost

Q

I work with Fiery print controllers, they are true Postscript, these
are also in mac and PC environments.
I can print the Powerpoint file created on a Mac and print it and it
goes from 38MB to 817MB after ripping. The same file on a PC goes from
38MB to 220MB. I understand the rasterization process and why this
happens. What is the solution?????????? My customers do not want to
have to make a PDF of every Powerpoint file they have. They are
becoming frustrated with this application as well as me! I really need
some help on these issues. This is MS office 2004 version. How can I
keep these file sizes down wiothout having to resize every single image
they put in there. Buying a third party application to do this will not
be a possibility. Thnaks everyone and anyone!

For ideas on dealing with images in PPT:

Why are my PowerPoint files so big? What can I do about it?

As far as the size of spool files vs. native PPT files, that's often due to
transparency, especially if there's a transparent shape above a bitmap.

Other than tedious manual workarounds, I don't think there's a lot to do about
it other than asking the customers not to use them. And yes, I know exactly
how effective that's likely to be. I used to run a service bureau myself. ;-)

Thanks for the help, some good info there. It also helps that your
solution is the same one i was suggesting. As far as the website with
Powerpoint suggestions to keep file size down. It has good info too,
but things are not located the same on a Mac as on a PC. When you look
in the place suggested they are never there on a MAC. Once again,
thanks for the help.

That'd be this:

I've done a few edits to make it easier to find stuff on a Mac and/or to make it
clearer where a particular fix or feature is Windows-only.

If you see any way of improving it for Mac users, do let me know.

Thanks!
