PowerPoint Package

Ryan

I am trying to save a powerpoint presentation in a package so i can
burn it on a CD. However, when I do this, it leave 2 excel
spreadsheets, 2 other powerpoint presentations, and 1 out of 7 PDFs out
of the Package file. I am using both hyperlinks and action buttons in
the presentation. How can I make sure all of my files link when
creating a package??

Hi Ryan,

The save as Package feature had some bugs in it that were repaired in
updates. Are you using PowerPoint 2004 with the latest update installed?

Jim,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have the Office 2004 for Mac most recent
update (11.2.4). It appears that the issue is with underlined
hyperlinks as opposed to action buttons. The links that are connected
to the action buttons have all worked, but not the ones connected via
hyperlinks. I figured out the pdf issue, but not the issue with the
ppts and excel spreadsheets. Everything is linked from the same file,
so I can't figure out why four of these file won't connect.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi again,

I'm wondering if there is something unusual or in common about the file
names or locations of the files to which you originally linked.

Are the path names longer than 200 characters? Is there any non-text or
non-numeric characters in any of the file path names to the content? Any
extra dots in the file names?

Jim,

Thanks again for your response. Actually, I changed the names and it
didn't work for all the files. However, after packaging, I simply
dragged the four files (2 power point and 2 excel) into the packaged
file folder and it ran correctly. It's odd, but it worked. Perhaps
because they're hyperlinked by their name, not location. Anyway, I
appreciate your time and help with this!

Thanks!

Hi Ryan,

I'm glad you discovered an easy work-around and posted the solution to
the newsgroup.

Thanks!
