PowerPoint problems with FrontPage

M

mike

I am trying to publish a .ppt file to my website using FrontPage.
It is a big file so it takes 20 minutes to transfer to my site. After
completion however it immediately tries to do it again, this time times at 4
hours. Then at the end an error message comes up saying it cannot find a
webserver on 80 port. ALL other files can be transfered to my site via
Powerpoint quite easily. What am I
doing wrong???
I can get the html version on the site but there are always problems with
the sound and with the slide show.

If you have FTP access to the same physical sub-directory on the webserver
you might try uploading it that way. There are lots of gui-type ftp clients
out there. Your webhost may even have one they prefer.

You should not use FTP in general to upload/update your FP website because
the FPSE's interact witn FP to convert physical paths setup on your
workstation to the correct ones for the server. The only work arround that
I know about is to setup your workstation subdirectory so it is an exact
mirror of your server paths.

Internet Explorer opens FTP and uploads by dragging the file into the window.

Just enter FTP address, fill in user/password. Drag & drop.

Hit F5 to refresh window after upload.

You could "Save as Html" form Powpoint or zip (compress) the file and link
to the Zip file.
