I have trouble opening some slide shows. They hang powerpoint and I
have to do a force quit to get out of it. If you rename the file to ppt
it can be opened. Also, I found that if I send the file to a non intel
based mac, the file can be opened as slideshow. Any thoughts.

Hi,

If changing the file name fixes things, then chances are something's wrong
in the Operating System. It would seem that the files themselves are OK.

Have you run Apple's Disk Utility? It's in the Applications > Utilities
folder. Use it to repair permissions and to verify the drive.

Do you have DiskWarrior or some other drive maintenance utility? It would be
a good time to let it have look at your system.
