Powerpoint slideshow won't advance

Wallace

I received a PPT presentations which was created on a Windows XP machine
(using Office XP), and PPT Mac v.X opens it fine, but the automatic
advancement of slides doesn't work. The options all look right, and the
timings are present. Not sure what to try.
Can anyone offer anything?
Thanks.

My guess is that the creator used newer animations. What might be
happening is that the slide is waiting for the animations to play, but
they won't play so it never advances. Go to the Slide Show menu and
choose Set Up Show. See what happens if you check "Show without
animation."

An alternative is to get the person who sent it to redo it, first
checking the boxes for Disable New Features in the Edit Tab of the
Options dialogue.

Good suggestions. Unfortunately they didn't work. However, I copied and
pasted the slides into a new presentation on the Mac, and presto! it
worked. No idea what the bug is here, but I'm guessing that some minor
version differences between the two Powerpoints (XP vs. v.X) could be
enough to throw a wrench in the works.
Thanks a lot for helping out.

If possible you have a try PowerPoint2DVD and see if it can help. More
info and a trial are available from their website.
