PowerPoint Templates and Footers / Autofields (page numbers, autodate, footer info)

Hi there,

I am wondering if someone can help me.

I have created a master slide / title slide set with footer
information.

I saved it as a POT and when I go to apply it to existing PPTs, it
does not apply the auto date, footer text and the auto pagination to
the file.

Any ideas as to why? It was entered in the header and footer dialogue
as opposed the the fields at the bottom of the page -- I want to
ensure that there is no extraneous infor on the title slides.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

It may be a matter of terminology, but you don't "apply" templates saved
as POT. You save templates in your Templates folder, then open them
using Project Gallery. An exact copy of a template is opened using that
method. Why are you saving in .pot instead of .potx? What version of
PowerPoint are you using? Regardless, the principle behind templates is
the same.

On the other hand, if you are using PowerPoint 2008 and you want to save
something that you can apply, create Master slides with the information
you want, and then save the result as a Theme (.thmx). Quit PowerPoint.
When you re-open PowerPoint your theme will be available to use from the
Formatting Palette.

Yes, that is correct, a design template. And no, sorry, we are not at
the nnnx version of office yet.

Are there also cross platform issues?
