PowerPoint templates

I have seen and used templates in Powerpoint where there are several layers
to a template in the master slide. All I can figure out for now is 2
connected master slides. How can I create a multi page PowerPoint template?

When they are connected, the 1st one is meant for title slides, while the 2nd
one is the content slides. However, if you need to add more designs, you can
insert additional slide masters, then when you add new slides, open up the
Slide Design pane and apply the slide master.
