Powerpoint to DVD and Quicktime

Charles

I have not used Powerpoint before and am thinking about
purchasing it.

Can anyone tell me if Powerpoint files can be saved as
Quicktime movies. I'd like to be able to put my
presentations on DVD. Or, is there another way to get
Powerpoint presentations onto DVD?

Thanks

Charles,

Powerpoint for the apple mac has a save to quicktime feature. This feature is not on the windows version of powerpoint.

It is possible, in theory, to convert a quicktime movie file to a MPEG2 DVD compatible movie format.

Some people have reported success by simply connecting a computer to a home DVD *Recorder* using just cables. This
requires a computer with a tv-out style connector (and audio out if you need to record audio)

Charles,

Yes, you can save as a movie quite easily, preserving all transitions,
timings and effects. You can then use iDVD to create a DVD from it. I
do this and use the Map feature in iDVD to play the movie on insertion
and loop it-- makes for a great announcements kiosk at our church.

Beware, however, that PowerPoint 2004 has terrible playback quality
when it comes to quicktime movies. Movies that play smooth as silk in
fullscreen in movie player (and other apps for that matter) stutter
and pause in PowerPoint 2004. It's disgraceful, really.
