PowerPoint - transition/animation removal trouble

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I am having difficulty removing all animations/transitions from the slides. I want a simple slide to slide (no effects) movement.

Tried the methods described in "help" this is not working.

Transitions/animations do not appear in the tool box but do in the slide sorter.
