Powerpoint Viewer 2007 won't open pps files

I used to have an earlier PowerPoint Viewer that worked just fine to read pps
files attached to emails. But after having to reinstall XP SP3, I downloaded
PPViewer 2007. It usually won't open pps files, and pops up this mini-window:

Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer 2007 [X]

Usage:
/extract:path, extracts the content of the package to the path folder
/quiet, runs the package in silent mode
/?, show this help message
[OK]

What the heck is haywire?
