Powerpoint Viewer No Sound

H

Harry Lime

Hello, I have created a powerpoint 2000 presentation autorun cd with
powerpoint viewer. However it does not play the attched sound files that lie
within the presentation.

I have checked all of the paths of the sound files and they are all correct.

If I click on the sound file whilst the viewer is running then it will play
the sound file for a brief moment.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why.

Thanking you all in advance

This may illustrate the problem to you, Harry, but since I don't know what
it's supposed to do, playing briefly upon click seems perfectly reasonable
to me. :) Please explain what the sound is supposed to do. Is it supposed
to play as a background track, is it just a quick sound effect, something
else?
Does anyone have any ideas as to why.

Do you have both a background track and narration sound files playing -- or
trying to play?

Hello, thank you for your quick reply. Both of the sound files are wav sound
files, what is supposed to happen is, the first sound file which is a voice
over plays automatically for 12 seconds, then as the voice is finishing the
second sound file will start, this is a background music file lasting for
the rest of the presentation, approx 4 minutes. I know it has something to
do with the viewer only, as the PPT presentation on the cd works fine if the
viewer is not used.

Thank you

Hi, Harry. I was hoping someone else may have some ideas for you this
afternoon, but it seems not.

I just created a short presentation with narration and a sound file (WAV
also) which begins near the end of the animation. It plays fine here in
both PPT 2000 and in the 97 PPT Viewer.

Which PPT Viewer are you using? The 97 version or the 2003 version?

Hi, I am using the 2003 Viewer

Harry, apparently I have just found out that their is a bug with the 2003
viewer, which creates this sort of a problem, and micrososft does not have a
fix for it.

Since you're using PPT 2000 to create your presentation, the PPT 97
Viewer may suit your needs better anyway. Download it at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...8E-5513-46C4-AA4F-058A84A37DF1&displaylang=EN

http://www.echosvoice.com/autoruncd.htm has instructions for setting up
an autorun CD with that Viewer. Or you could use Autorun CD Project
Creator Pro. http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/tutorials.htm
