POWERPOINT, weird lines

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) When working with PowerPoint for mac slides (adding textboxes, graphics, etc.), I have these two very thin lines the cross each other on the screen, thin light blue (?) lines that cross each other. They are very distracting. How do I get rid of them. I can move them almost off screen (the one vertically and the other horizontally), but they are still there. I don't know what they're for or how they started appearing. Please somebody help. Thanks.

It sounds like you're referring to the Dynamic Guides intended to assist in
alignment/positioning of objects relative to one another. I'm not at a Mac
to verify, but I believe they cna be turned off in the View menu. If not,
check in PPT's Help on the topic of 'guides'.

THANKS! Actually, under view and guides, it's the "static guides" (control G), not the dynamic ones, I guess. I unchecked the "static guides," and it worked! Thank you!!! Happy Easter!

Glad I at least pointed you in the right direction I guess I just read
into your message - most questions arise concerning the Dynamic Guides
because they're a little cumbersome to work with at first.

Hi, I'm working on a Mac and using PowerPoint2008. I have guides that I can move, and a few guides that won't move. How do I unlock them? I tried clicking/unclicking static and dynamic. Also went through every slide on master and layouts...but nothing!

Also another question... does this program have a feature to show an underlying grid? Can't seem to find it!

Static Guides are the ones that 'stay put' on the layout, Dynamic Guides
appear only while creating/moving shapes in the vicinity of other shapes...
But neither can be "locked" in Mac PPT. Was the file created or edited using
a Windows version, perhaps?

Selecting 'Static Guides' provides one vertical & one horizontal cyan guide
which bisect the slide layout at the midpoint. Those can be moved but cannot
be _re_moved by dragging. Additional ones created from them should be
removable by dragging them to the edge of the layout & releasing. All guides
are turned off when the 'Static Guides' feature is turned off.

If you're experiencing different behavior confirm that Office 2008 is fully
updated (12.2.4). Do the same for whatever flavor of OS X you're using.

Unfortunately, PPT 2008 doesn't provide the ability to adjust the increments
of the underlying grid or to display it. All control is what you see in the
View> Guides menu.
