Powerpoint will not work

I'm new to Mac. I made a pp presentation that is 1.06 G. It's loaded with pictures. I have problems with powerpoint opening. Some days it opens but on most days it will not. After 4-5 minutes, it just times out.

Any suggestion on what I did wrong?

I've never had a problem using powerpoint before but it could be because my presentation is too big.

I can find anything that states the office mac powerpoint presentation can only hold so many MGs or Gs. Does anyone know?

Should I scrap Office Mac and get I-works and KeyNote since I am using a MAC?

It's hard to say w/o knowing how many pictures are included, but most likely the
pictures themselves are far too big. If they came directly from, say, a digital
camera, it's almost certain that they are.

For most purposes, you don't need images over 1024x768, and that's for full-screen
images; images that take up less of the slide can be smaller still.

Thanks Steve,

I have 288 photos over 140 slides. Most of the photos are old family photographs that were taken 5-25 years ago. All of those are photos are non-digital photos that I had to scan into the presentation. I was doing a 25 year anniversary presentation. I realize that the number of photos are high but I thought that did not matter but it was just the size of the memory space the photos took up. The presentation is 22 minutes long and I have 5 songs added from itunes. I guess, I stumped that the presentation will open one day but the next time I try it will not.

That's more or less the case but we still don't know how much that is.
How large are the photos (in pixels)?
Again if they're much over 1024x768, that could well be the problem.

The presentation is 22 minutes long and I have 5 songs added from itunes. I guess, I
stumped that the presentation will open one day but the next time I try it will not.
