powerpoint won't open my kid is going crazy

Dear Excel users,

My 15 year old, did a report on Chromosomes in Powerpoint.
He downloaded the file to the server at school. It could not open.
Now the file seems corrupted and the information is contained there, but we
cannot access it. I have triedn to rename the file, open it up in a ner PPT
doc, tried to open it in MS word, Keynote, Quark. NOthing seems to work,
Can you suggest a way to open this file????
