powerpoint X printing poster

I have a very specific problem and wonder if anyone has any suggestions. I
am printing Powerpoint posters that are usually 44"x66". I had no problem
doing this in Classic mode or in OS 9 with Powerpoint 2001, but have not
had any luck in OS X. I am using a Epson 9600 and Epson tech support said I
should upgrade to OS 10.3.4, but this didn't seem to fix the problem. They
don't seem to have any good ideas after that.

In OS X, it prints everything perfectly up until around 44-50" and then it
stops printing as if the job is over. It then scrolls the paper to the correct
page length which in our case is 66" and then cuts the paper so that the last
1 -2 feet of the poster is blank.

I tested an Adobe Illustrator document that is 66" long through the Epson
print driver in OS 10.3.4 and that seems to work, so the problem seems to
be with Powerpoint in OS X. Does anyone know if updating my Microsoft
Office could help? Or have you heard of this problem and know of a possile
rason or solution?

I have found bits of information online regarding the printer stopping to
print at around 44" but there doesn't seem to be a definitive solution or
reason for it that I can find. I've read that Gimp-print is incompatible with
the Epson driver and also read that fiddling with the print settings seems to
help. But neither of these things seems to be my problem.

Thanks a lot!

Hi Swang,

Our IT folks put our Epson large printer into Active Directory last week.
Unfortunately they haven't figured out how to get my username and password
to work so I can't try any scenarios out for you.

I have a suggestion just the same.

Try using Save As and choose the PICT file format. Click the options button
and adjust the size there. Click the option to save just the current slide
unless you want the entire presentation turned into pictures.

Then open the picture in a graphics program and printing it from there.

Hi Jim,

Thanks so much for your help. I think I will give you suggestion a try. If you
ever do get a chance to try testing on your Epson printer I'd really appreciate
to hear what your experience is.

Thanks!
