Everytime I try to view a slide show in PP Office 2004 running on Mac OS 10.4 it crashes. I am unable to run a show with current presentation and newly created ones. Any suggestions................

Hi,

I¹d start by removing PowerPoint¹s preferences (while PowerPoint is not
running). Put them into the trash. Empty the trash.

Thanks Jim but I've already tried doing that but it still didn't fix the problem. I also re-imaged my machine. Any .pps file works on my co-workers Macs even the ones that I've created. Any other suggestions.....?

Hi again,

My general troubleshoot steps are:

1. Run DiskWarrior
2. Run Disk Utility and repair permissions

If you create a new user on the computer and try it there, does it play?

I am seeing similar issues. So far I've seen it on an iMac Core Duo system with 10.4.11 and Office 2004 11.3.9. I've read several things that its related to an OpenGL update in 10.4.11, is that correct? It may explain why it doesn't affect all models. I couldn't reproduce it on my MacBook Pro santa rosa. The crash happened with a freshly logged on user account.

We are seeing the same issue on a freshly-imaged 10.4.11 MacBook Pro in PowerPoint 2004 -- the app quits unexpectedly when entering full-screen slideshows, regardless of the presentation in use. There are additional reports of the issue on the Macenterprise mailing list, and here:

 <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6033304>

Some have suggested that a subsequent update to 10.4.11 corrects this issue, but I can't vouch for that. You might try running Apple's software update on the affected machine, or (if you're feeling daring) swapping the graphics libraries with a 10.4.10 machine as described in the thread above. In my case, I have advised the user to show her presentation in Keynote for now.

I should be able to check the status of our affected machines on Monday and advise if the software update clears the issue.

I have the latest download (feb 12), have trashed my office 2004 and re-installed, and it still crashes!!! Please help, I need to be able to show presentations.

I've tested on a Santa Rosa (2.4 Ghz, Nvidia) MacBook Pro with a fresh version of our image and I'm still seeing the same problem. All updates applied, Office 11.4.0 installed.

Next step is a bare-bones 10.4.10 with PPT, test that, then 10.4.11, test that. Would be nice to have some acknowledgement from either MS support or Apple support of the issue..

Also notable that Powerpoint crashes both with full-screen and present-in-window slideshows.

Best advice I have for the moment: download the iWork 30-day trial and convert presentations to Keynote.

Same issue here. PPT 2004. Tiger 10.4.11. Every time PPT goes into slide show mode it crashes. It is now April 30 and this was posted in January. No one has a fix???
