PP2202 upgrade?

Running win98se, Office2k Pro..

Has there been any problems upgrading to PP2002 when I've got Office 2k,
(PP2k) on my machine?
Received PP2002(xp) as a B-D present and not sure if I should load it over
PP2k or not.
Have seen PP2002 on a friends xp system and really like the way it works.
May/will ungrade to Win xp and Office xp in future but would like to work
with PP2002 for now.

Suggestion/comments,
(will it work ok?)

Load it *next* to Ppt 2000. Once you start the install, it will ask if you
want to replace the old version or leave the old one alone. Choose the
former.

This works great. Only one thing, when you double click a Ppt file it will
open in 2002. To open a pres in 2000 you have to open 2000 and do File>Open.
No big deal, right? :)

Yes, you can have both on your system.

I'd also suggest when you install to choose a new directory
e.g.
c:\program files\powerpoint-2002\

Then there is less chance of any problems.

Why would you want to do this....well just in case you find a particular
problem or inconsistency between the 2 version...then you have your trusty
old ppt 2000.

Do have a followup question.
I have Office 2k and was told that I can "legally" load it on my desktop and
laptop.
In fact, if I remember I called MS to confirm but that was toooo far back to
be certain.
Is this true and, if so, can I do the same with 2002(office, PP2002,
etc.etc.)?

Get this: the End User License Agreement is buried in the help system.
Historically the help system is sometimes (usually?) mangled if you load Ppt
alongside an older version. I have the exact same question, but since the
only way to learn the answer is to obtain a perfect install, I'll never know
the answer.

Even if I loaded Ppt 2002 alongside 2000 on my laptop, there's a good chance
I still won't be able to answer the question for myself. I'm just planning
to go for it, but I haven't got around to loading 2002 on this laptop yet.
Do post back if you find the answer. :)

If you've received a full version of PPT 2002 -- as in a retail copy
which someone purchased online or at a store, not one labeled "OEM," --
your license should allow installation on one desktop and one laptop.
The same should go for PPT 2000 -- if you have a retail version of PPT
or Office, you can legally install on one desktop and one laptop. If you
have an "OEM" version, it depends.

If you still have access to the help files, do a search there for EULA
or License. That should turn up the appropriate end user license
agreement for you to read.
