PP97 Viewer performance

When I run my presentation with the 97 viewer, the cursor is very slow to
reappear after a new slide comes up - always taking 2-3 seconds, sometimes
up to 5 or 6. When simply clicking on the screen to go the the next, the
response is immediate, but when clicking on links things slow to a crawl.
Performance under the 2003 viewer is fine, and the difference between the
viewers is the same whether running on a 300 Mhz W98 sytem with 128M or on a
4.5 Ghz XP with 512M, and whether it's run from the hard disk or a CD. The
presentation was prepared with PP 2000. I'd like to Autorun the 97 viewer
to include as wide a range of supported systems as possible. Can I do
anything to speed things up on the 97 viewer?

Thanks for your help.

That's the way the 97 Viewer works and there isn't a way to change it that I
know of other than press the "A" or "=" key on each slide. I think it was
designed that way since some people probably don't want the mouse to show.
