PPS - "actuals" manual Input?

Hello All,

I would like to know if Actuals in the Schedule Tab requires to connect to
Project Server through the Gateway or is there a way to work with PPS alone
and update Actuals manually?

In fact,
I have read the builder manual and saw that manual edit is available when
the project is approved or have reached the manage phase.

I have moved the project through the workflow down to the manage phase but
the actuals are still in read only mode.

After some reading and testing, I noticed I was not in Edit mode but on read
only mode (snapshot mode).
