I created a large PPT file (15MB) in PPT2000 SR-1 that was being saved on my
hard drive (desktop). It was working perfectly, after which I saved it
before retiring to bed.
The next day....
The file was very slow to open (>5min) with the Hard Drive whirring
constantly. Eventually the the slide sorter view came up with the first 15
slides, then several blanks, and the remainder of slides (>90). These blank
slides included one with a link to a video file, but the blanks started
several slides before that one on a relatively simple text slide (I believe).
Scrolling to the bottom of the presentation was possible but very slow.
I tried a number of things, but the program was very slow and eventually
"Not responding" was added to the title at the top.
I tried to select the blank slides and press 'delete' ---> Not Responding
I tried to delete/unlink the linked video files but no change ---> Not
Responding
Once Not Responding I would go to task manager and there appeared to be two
PPT windoes open, one "Not Responding" and one "Running". Switching to the
running was ineffective.
I tried to open the file from within PPT, but it would not
I tried to import the slides from the presentation into another PPT file but
the new file --> Not Responding
I tried copying the file to a CD-R or USB flash device but got "Cannot copy
____. Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)"
I tried the Powerpoint Recovery 2.0 free demo download and it "recovered"
the file but hard to tell if it was effective.... not conviced enough to
spend $150
Any ideas how to recover this file?
