PPT 2002 and PNG's

When I insert a PNG with a transparency PowerPoint shows
the transparent part as black (no transparency). Is there
some option or file problem with PPT XP and PNG's?

File problem, mostly. Sometimes corrected with SP-2, depending on the
issue. See http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00323.htm for some info. I
know that this isn't exactly what you've described, but we've not been
able to actually nail that one down. My money's on the way the
transparency was created, but I've never gotten around to gathering up
the appropriate information...
