If you're using Insert | Sound | From Clip Organizer, don't.
You'll want to save the MIDI from the clip organizer into the same folder
with your presentation then insert it using Insert | Sound | From File.
MIDIs inserted via Clip Organizer are housed in your Temporary Internet
Files folder (or is it the TEMP folder?). When this gets cleared out, your
MIDI disappears. Sounds like that's what's happening here, no pun intended.

I'm not able to get midi sound files to play in PPT 2003 presentations.
Tried
several different midi files and no go. Or, I get it to play a time or
two,
and then nothing. Is there a setting in some menu or another that needs
to
be
selected?

midi file to a wav file, put that in the presentation folder and then
