I have yet to find an answer to this. I have been working on a large powerpoint file for some time (in ppt 2004) with a pptx extension. Saved it numerous times. Today the program crashed (as it has a time or two before). But, when I try to open it, I get this error message. I've tried numerous fixes (changed the extension; etc.).

The other issue is that now the file shows up as "zero KB" when I do a "get info" on it! Does anyone have a clue about this error message?

Hi,

If GetInfo reports that the file is zero KB, that means that the only
thing left of your file is the file name.

PowerPoint automatically tries to restore the last file it was working
on before a crash. In your case, I think PowerPoint is trying to tell
you that the autosave file is corrupt.

Single-click on the file name of that zero KB file in Finder. Don't
double-click because we want to select it, not open it. Then click the
Time Machine button in your dock. Restore the first non-zero KB version
that Time Machine finds.
